Well, Class 61 officially started on Monday, but there is only ONE completely new person in it. He's a fast learner, so we may do a kamekaze to get him through at least the Basics, so he'll be up to where Class 60 was before I started MS continuation with them. Lee is a very good, experienced c/w dancer, and is one of our Thursday regulars.
Next week is pretty much the last week for brand new starters, so we'll see how that goes.
We did have several 'old faces' returning. A straight woman named Gail, who works with one of the WB, used to dance Advanced, but hadn't done it in five years. She danced through Plus easily. There were two long-ago WB that came, Dave Frietas and his partner Ben (Dave was in the bay area for awhile with another partner, who passed away from a sudden heart attack). Also, Andrew W showed up, who has been threatening to come back to SD for over a year, ever since he moved back from (I think) DC, where he lived for five years.
The energy is high with all the dancers that were there...maybe 25 or 26 were there on Monday. Still juggling the programs though!
The non-gay promotion committee has asked Kris and me to work with them on getting the Square Dance A-B-C program going here, so we'll make a stab at it.
