There really is an upside to having a quiet office in the main hallway off the largest performing arts venue in New Mexico. The rear of the theatre is my path to get from my office to the main admin area.

The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra has our theatre as its resident performance venue. They bring in huge names in the classical performing arena.

Today, as is often the case, I get to hear amazing pianists rehearse in an empty theatre for hours at a time. We're not talking chopsticks here. The grand piano is tuned both before AND after a rehearsal.

Here's the blurb of the www.nmso.org website for this weekend's Classics program, which will have a 100 voice chorus and full orchestra:

"NMSO’s composer-in-residence Miguel del Aguila solos in Saint-Saëns’ masterpiece Piano Concerto No. 2. Hear history in the making with an excerpt from del Aguila’s opera, “Time and Again Barelas,” commissioned for the Albuquerque Tricentennial"

This all makes my small talent as a caller seem so...um...nothing.
