Hope tonight was a good open house...Danny said it seemed like a good time. I think we had about 7 new folks, and I worked them through a number of fun routines, and added the Barn Dance and played with big circle/couple routines to get the beat going.

I'm rethinking how I want to approach open houses with brand new dancers. Trying to get away from the slam, bam of 'here's 10 new calls tonight, let me teach them, then throw them at you in any combination I want to, and see if you sink or swim' method to teaching whole dance sequences to get better flow and new dancer confidence. I'll work on that. They did a bang up job with Venus and Mars, something I'd normally never do on a first night.

Lots of energy, although mine was low. We had more than 3 squares up most of the time, and no one left in disgust. There was a lot of laughter and smiles and some general goofiness.

It's still a bit hard to shift gears from an intensive hour of workshopping C1, right into 2+ hours of easy-level, mainstream and plus dancing, with that added A2 star tip at the end.

But it somehow is working...for now.

Again, I'm concerned about what the board thinks should be happening. 6 of the 7 new folks are from the Thursday c/w group I have. The other one, was a Kris invite. The 'deal' is that the board is to do some sort of advertising for the new class, but I haven't a clue what that might have been.
