I'm awake! I'm awake!
Jan. 1st, 2006 10:01 amAnother productive day yesterday in renov-land, or what I'm starting to call the Endless Pit of Time-Sucking Hell. Finished the drywall sanding, we primed the rest of the room, then Danny and I plunked on the lovely medley of "Barnwood" and "Cottage Linen" in the entire room. After that was dry, then of course a second coat of the "Barnwood" and touchup of the "Cottage Linen." In a mere hour, we measured and nailed up the crown molding.
Since it was dinner time, Danny went upstairs to create a tasty "what's left in the refrigerator goes into the pot" pasta, and I ran the caulk bead over the molding to fill the various gaps, since the ceiling is uneven. I don't think I've ever had 'ham, green pepper, yam" pasta before.
We have lots more to do today, of course. Trim out the windows, more touchup prime and paint here and there, and clean the room up as much as possible. What's left to do that we're not going to be able to do until next week is stain and polyurethane the wood base molding, sand the parquet and stain it to make it consistent (if possible), seal that with many layers of polyurethane and sit and wait for all that to dry.
We'll probably go shopping today for furniture, since we decided to get rid of all the old pre-Danny furniture down there. It's mostly a hodge-podge of Jim #1 and Jim #2, and has some sentimental value, but not enough to keep it, much less reupholster most of it.
Prettied up for the evening to head back to Sidewinder's Ranch for the "Mardi Gras" new year. Got to dance up a storm, except for the 1/2 breaks for disco, which I didn't feel up for. The DJ has some idea that line dancers LIKE the 7 minute extended play versions of line dances. I'll have to knock some sense into his head. After 7 minutes of "Electric Slide" and "Boot Scoot Boogie" I was pretty much over it. We persevered by staying through the hooting and kissin of New Years then headed home and plopped into bed.
Today is a new day and a new year. Since tomorrow is Danny's birthday, I hope we call that a blessed Day of Rest. Finally.
