Spring has sprung and I hope it doesn't just tease and throw an arctic blast at us. Today got to 70 degrees, with a promise of 72 tomorrow...nearly 15 degrees above normal for late February here in the high desert of New Mexico.

Some of my early bulbs have sprung open in full bloom. Wish I had pics handy!

I spent some time, but not enough, cleaning up the terraced garden in my tween-show breaks yesterday. But unless we get some moisture SOON, it's going to be a grim March.

Work was odd today...very disjointed feeling. My 'quasi'-boss, Karen is back from a week's vacation, but NOT in the office today. At least she hadn't showed by the time I left just before 5. My sole interaction with her was an email she sent at 10am asking for an update on something I don't even know how to deal with. She said she'd touch bases with me later in the afternoon, but nada.

But the Popejoy Hall portion of my job is still cranking away like crazy. Today, dealing with issues related to the symphony contract with the theatre, and dozens of other mini-projects related to shows, budget, people, cross-training and on and on. Lots of catch-up on that side of my table of projects.

It was a relief to leave. I'm not really feeling comfortable having two bosses, one which is very clear on what our work relationship is, and the other virtually silent on anything and everything.

The 30 minutes at home before leaving for square dancing just didn't feel like enough today.

Maybe the weather has got people in much better spirits. I felt I was making progress with the C1 group...Kris didn't even make any comments on nuances of my teaching tonight. We're going to start once-a-month Sunday class level workshops at the house, starting on the 12th. It'll be nice to be using the downstairs for dancing again after all this time.

The club portion of the dance went really well tonight, with a lot of high spirits and good feelings. I'm still dismayed by the inability of the "Kris Plus Group" to get through any Plus call without me having to workshop it, even after months of floor time and reviews. And on the flip side, Scott dances Mainstream like he's been doing it for years, rather than having soaked it in like a sponge in just 2 weeks.

As we were squaring up for one of the tips, I stopped to 'splain that once upon a time, I used vinyl 45 rpm records for dances, that once a month I'd pull out about 30 records to use for the entire month, then refile them and choose new ones. They got all scratchy and time worn, and some of them became unable, or I'd lose them a multi-caller dance. A far cry from having 1000 plus records in one place on the 'puter. They were amused.

Denver had mentioned recently that they weren't going to host a 2007 flyin because of their convention, and would like us to do a flyin in the off year. I overheard the active portion of the board talk about it tonight, and it seems like it'll be a go for 2006, AND 2007, 2008...we haven't done back to back flyins since 1990 or so. I was one of the key pushers for getting Denver into the every-other-year flyin, but after all these years, I see how the Wilde Bunch has lost the continuity of having a flyin every year.

Probably dancing C2 on Weds night at Kris' house...it's been too long.

No, no, NO! I've waited since October to walk across campus again in shirt-sleeves. I was actually a little over-warm this afternoon. So you can't have our weather. Sorry.

But you can always come VISIT our weather :-)
