Saturday fest
Apr. 16th, 2006 10:06 amMade a Homo Depot run yesterday afternoon and picked up a couple of drip water kits and hoses to start my adventures in being able to water the far reaches of the yard, the south run, and the front xeriscaping. Who cares if it ain't going to be a pretty setup...at least it'll save me getting frustrated with the dying plants that I irregularly water by hand now.
The new expand-a-hose in the front worked well to reach the root waterer for the sadly ill pine tree in front...now I can retire that amazingly heavy old hose that was in front before, and the new hose rolls back up into a compact little area.
Exchanged the storm windows on the front door for the regular metal screening, so we can get the spring 'breezes' in now.
Danny came back from the store and said, "you're cooking dinner tonight," so I dutifully started up the BBQ and grilled the burgers and sausage for a lovely repast.
Started feeling hugely exhausted after that and suspected a possible a-fib coming up, since I recognize that odd physically congested feeling...took a cardazem and lay down for 30 minutes, which made all the difference.
We headed out to the Ranch and got there by 10pm, early by most bar standards, but the lot was pretty full. We traipsed in to find a huge number of the Thursday class folk there, dancing away. They made up all but a couple of the people on the floor. All three Davids were there, with Santa Fe Dave complaining about the DJ as per usual, and making him play dance-able tunes and line dancers.
It was MUCH smokier than usual. I don't know what Sean is thinking by not having an air exchanger of some sort...especially when there are cigar smokers in the building. I don't think the swamp coolers were even on, just the fans. Ugh ugh ugh. We reeked when we got home...no telling what damage evenings like this does to our lungs.
We lasted until 12:15 and headed home for a late night mini-nosh, watched something on the tube, then headed to bed at 1:30...
And of course, like on most weekends, the eyes popped open at 6am this morning when the first pre-dawn light filters in, so I'm running on 4 1/2 hours sleep...ah, well, nap time later!
I came across a flyer at the co-op yesterday for 2 1/4 acres of land in the mountains east of here, I think about a 45 minute drive or less. Although this particular piece has a rustic A frame cabin on it, with no power and water, it did make us think that it might be nice to have a getaway mountain retreat nearby, where we could camp or just be away from the city for a bit. This particular piece of land was $37,500, but we might take a drive out that way this afternoon to see what else is available.
