[livejournal.com profile] abqdan and I opted for a low key 5th anniversary evening...a dinner at Mannie's, then renting the DVD of "40 Year Old Virgin"...40 seems so YOUNG now. Gawd. But the movie was a hoot. Even though Paul Rudd looked pretty seedy and drugged out in the flick, I still think he's dreamy. When we were video shopping at the store, this was the first time we saw at least six shows we wanted to see, and that was just in the first aisle!

Friday was low key all the way around mostly. Since the weather was so beautiful, everyone was treating the Friday like the beginning of a Spring holiday, and smiles were everywhere. Work passed uneventfully...all major projects wrapped up. Gay Boss Tom snagged me at 3:45 to see if I could take him up to his car repair place in the heights, then back over to his auto body repair place. "Mr Humphries, are you free?" Absolutely! Closed up my office for the day and away we went!

The only snag to the day was the dog Rocky next door. Danny happened to glance over the fence when he got home about 5:30 and saw the dog having some sort of seizure. He called 311 to get some help...during the 10 minutes he was first on the phone, the dog had improved, so we said we'd watch to see what happened. Sure enough, within another couple of minutes, he had another awful seizure, so he called back. Since we left for dinner then, we don't know if animal control actually showed; if they had, the back gate to the yard next door is chain-locked. I walked across the street before we left to see if the neighbor that rents from the negligent owners knew how to contact the owner, but although there was a flick at the curtain, no one came to the door. Oh, well.

During the DVD viewing last night, we were treated to a rare Spring thunderstorm. A bare .02 inches of rain out if it, but the air was delightfully crisp with ozone from the T&L display. A treat, if nearly a dry one. Albuquerqueens were probably out in droves to see the rain...it's a regional pastime here.

I peeked over the fence again this morning. The dog is still obviously extremely ill. Matted saliva and drool around the mouth, heavy panting, vague awareness of surroundings, tail and ears down. I'd think rabies. We can't do any more.

Debating whether to go to any of the Singles Square Dance weekend...I have a free pass as a caller. I might pop over to the MS/Plus workshop from 1 to 3...I always enjoy Mike Seastrom calling, and I haven't heard Mike Bramlett, so might be good to do some research.

This evening is 'family potluck night' with Lawrence and Scott. LK invited us over...it was his birthday Thursday, but he didn't mention it, so we'll take a card over anyway. It's his blood family and Scott's blood family over, plus us. Interesting. Games night, I hope!

Not sure I want to hit the Ranch tonight...3 Saturdays out of the past 4 we've done that. Maybe tomorrow afternoon at the beer bust there though...the dj told me in IM that the first Sunday every month is hosted by NMGRA and has c/w dancing...I posted it to my dance list.

Have to remember to order tickets to "Nunsense!" for next weekend...love that show! My old company is producing it, so I'm sure it'll be fun. [livejournal.com profile] abqdan's never seen it, so I won't tell him any of the surprises that go along with it.
