Late night (early morning?)
Apr. 15th, 2006 04:23 amIt's 4:23 am, and I woke up for no apparent reason...or maybe I woke to what I thought was a bird in the attic. Turns out it's just one of the roof vents spinning away.
Weather.com shows it 63 degrees and windy with 40mph gusts right now. The wind isn't unusual, but the warm temps are, at least THIS warm pre-dawn. Very summerlike.
Work started Friday with me being a bit early, since I have projects stacked up the wazoo, not the least of them being finishing the 'merit' wage allocation for our budget. Such power! Friday was "Let's all bring something for breakfast" day, which turns out to be anything you can put in a tortilla and eat. I made both a breakfast and lunch out of it. It feels a bit odd for Karen and I to be included in the Bookstore staff social activities, since it's just convenience that has our office in their store, but it's nice that they're activity driven and include us.
Very productive day overall for me, although I haven't touch my bosses overwhelming project of 10 years of financial data recap. While I was number crunching away, Danny was having a real downer of a day off. His old friend Tim died yesterday morning, and he was really torn up about it. He got the call while he was having a massage with our friend Bill B. I found it best to just leave him to it when I got home that afternoon. I had met Tim a couple of times over the past few years, and he reminds me VERY much of a younger guy I had a fling with for a bit before I met Danny. They had a good bond over the years, and I know it's going to leave another hole in Danny's heart.
Susan is still in an induced coma after her heart attack, but the news is slightly better. They've brought her blood pressure up from 20/15 to 90 something, and are lowering the coma meds. I'm not sure of what the dynamics were, but she had a lot of blood loss from it pooling in her lungs. The ticket staff has been so busy stuffing the new season mailings that they haven't had too much time to fret and are putting on a brave face. They're all really dedicated to each other, much more than our own staff is.
Since Danny's headache meds have caffeine in them, he actually made it to bed long after I did, which is exceedingly rare. I crashed about 10:15. Generally, I'm pretty tired on Fridays, having a long Thursday of work and C/W lessons.
No commitments at all this weekend, which makes me feel at loose ends. I wandered the yard yesterday evening thinking of all the chores that need to get done, though. I took a look at Rocky- next door, and he's even sicker than he was yesterday morning, but other than calling an animal crisis unit, I don't know what to do about that.
Just have to finish up my tax work on TurboTax this morning, then I'll have to seize the day. I hear the first birds starting to chirp outside, so time to go watch some CNN.
