Since Danny got part of his inheritance from his aunt's estate recently, he decided to splurge on a 37" wide-screen LCD TV with some technology called HDMI or something...he's been researching the heck out of them for a while, and buy.com came through for him.

It may be flat, but it's still heavy...81 pounds in the box! So after I got off work, I drove over to HIS office on the other side of the campus where the TV had been delivered, and we loaded it into the Saturn, happily without hernia.

After we breezed through the dinner I made, he hooked it up to the surround sound, eventually getting it to have a real picture. This new beast was officially broken in with a viewing of the widescreen DVD of "Brokeback Mountain." We both were weepy...sigh.

Since it's yet another device here in the house with a remote control, I'm hesitant to start using it without another crash course in how not to wreck the home electronics.

And what are we going to do with the FIFTH TV, now sitting dejected in a corner. Maybe in the gym?

Check out the Harmony 880 universal remote from Logitech. It's one of the better universal remotes I've found. Rather than struggle with 5 different remotes we get all features/functions in one. There might be better remotes out there but this is a great one for the price.

Ah! It's already on my list. The reviews have been great, and I like that you can download the programming for different devices from their website. There are a plethora of remote controls upstairs, and that entertainment area includes a ReplayTV, which has sufficient delay in it to make surfing annoyingly slow. Bill's a surfer, so that's why the downstairs setup must be simple and include fast channel changing. We still need to get the Comcast HD box to go with the TV - then we can look at Harmony!
