There are lots of activities at the Callerlab annual gathering now before the convention starts on Monday.  Sunday evening, there is a demonstration dance from a youthful Colorado group that keeps alive the old 'cowboy dance' form that Lloyd Shaw made famous, and that eventually morphed into the dancing that we're doing today.

I'm hoping there's a tape of that dance that I can buy...in the 80s, the Wilde Bunch was known for its "Flying Squares" where we incorporated a lot of those showy, athletic square dance moves, especially the 'show basket,' 'flying vane,'  a very stylized 'garden gate' into a 'Venus and Mars,' ' the Oxbow Loop,' 'Birdies in the Trees,' and other showy routines.

I'd love to be able to get into it again, although the moves were probably much easier when I was 30 versus 52!

I'd love for you to demonstrate the "show basket" routine sometime...

I guess we can give you partial credit. The correct response is:

"Well, get to Peel-Off, you dingus!"

I ALMOST typed that, but I remember that you had already registered for 'that other event!'

Maybe we'll have a 'clothing optional' session at the caller school!

I would love some sort of video or handbook for that as well. That is the direction I am trying to push Puddletown in, at least a little bit, but I don't have very many tools at my disposal.

Ross taught "grand spin" at our last club night and it was really fun and really cool looking.
