I am absolutely appalled that the caller booker for the Wilde Bunch for next year's flyin did EXACTLY the thing that caused me to instigate the GCA to present a document at this past year's IAGSDC convention on how NOT to book a caller.

Last I knew, we had already booked a headline caller for our flyin at that convention. Apparently not.

I wouldn't have known about this current FUBAR, except I got copied in on confused and aggravated emails by two callers that had been cattle-call contacted. At least one of them is on LiveJournal.

I'm just stunned that this happened in my own club and hope it's resolved quickly before the caller booker resigns in embarrassment.

As a side note, I got an email last week from a club booking a caller for a flyin in 2009. Because of my own experience, I immediately (and I mean within minutes) contacted the booker both by email and by phone and asked if I were specifically being asked to call for them. The original letter was worded just like 2 conventions have done making it sound like I was going to be contracted, but they were leading-you-on cattle-call letters, and I wasn't booked at all. Turns out I AM actually being booked to call! Quick followup on my part made sure that was the case and there was no confusion.

Our local C-1 club has rotating callers. CJ and I call on average once a month. We were calling the last dance of the year last night, and one of the other callers was there, and I asked her "so who's calling on Jan 10?" (the next dance) She looked at me blankly. Uhh. The club hasn't scheduled any callers for next year :-)
