For everything of value, there is a corresponding cost.

CFLs use far less energy and last longer than incandescent, but require more care to dispose of and handle.

Incandescents are warmer and easier to handle, but use more energy and don't last as long as CFLs.

Here in Sunnyvale, the city has set up a special recycling station open 7 days a week, for dropping off CFLs, old prescription medications (which qualify as toxic waste!), household cleaners, etcetera.

This is all part of switching to a more energy efficient economy.

And of course the British Medical Journal, the Lancet has published a report that these bulbs promote migraine headaches in some people...

Well, it seems everything can kill or harm you these days. Since we'll all die anyway, it doesn't seem worth worrying about!
