Back in '94, I was one of a group of gay square dancers that had made contact with the owners of "The Bell," a gay bar in London to plant the seeds of a gay square dance club there.  A small group got started and haphazardly met for a couple of years then was gone with the wind.

Danny mentioned tonight that we should learn a dance called The Gay Gordons.  I looked it up on the net and the first link I found was this

So close to what we are, yet so far...hope this group survives and thrives!

Chorus
A Gordon for me, a Gordon for me,
If ye're no a Gordon ye're no use to me.
The Black Watch** are braw, the Seaforths** and a'
But the cocky wee Gordon's the pride o' them a'.

Exactly. I looked up the derivation of the term Gay Gordons. :-)

Squee! I'd LOVE to dance with those folks! I can do that stuff.

I presume that you found the "Gay Gordons" dance? It's a pretty easy circle mixer dance, as I recall, sometimes done at English or Scottish dance nights...

We did, and found two versions of it. One of them Danny remembers as the one he learned, the other is likely more appropriate for 'gender free' type dances.
