The Sunday so far
Mar. 9th, 2008 06:17 pmIt's been a delightfully lazy day, with not much ambition to get anything accomplished. No one is going to sue me for that, I'm sure.
After Danny came back from the store* with fixins, we took off for a leisurely drive into the mountains, since it's a mild day. I drove old Route 66 up to Tijeras, took a right onto Highway 337, known for its variety of campgrounds. We drove through the meandering mountain road up as far as Chilili. Somehow I remember this to be a little community, with maybe a gas station and a store, but it's a small jumble of impoverished homesteads scattered here and there. Originally a Pueblo village, it became Spanish in the early 1600s.
There was quite a bit of snow in the area, but it's old snow and the roads are perfectly clear. The temp dipped from the mid 50s in Albuquerque to the low 40s in the mountains, so we didn't have a wind in our hair drive. Danny made some mental notes for some possible future mountain hikes.
Coming home, Danny drowsed most of the way, even falling asleep mid-sentence a couple of times. It's just one of those lazy days.
Tonight, I'm prepping my first lasagna I've ever made for Danny. Rather than Riccota cheese, there's a great blended tofu mixture I found in a recipe as a substitute. It's a vegan recipe, but since neither of us is vegans, I tossed a pan of cooked hamburger in the marinara sauce. I wanted some Italian sausage for it, but Danny couldn't find it on the fly.
Looking forward to an ever LAZIER evening before a busy work week...then off to Callerlab in Lalaland!
* The tranquility of the day was marred just after Danny got back from the store. The new ASDC treasurer called all in a tizzy with three easy questions a 3rd grader could have answered. I'm really, REALLY perplexed as to why she volunteered to be the treasurer! It was all I could do to answer her calmly.
