Danny and I are dragging our heels on getting the rest of the house renovations complete. I think we're brainwashed from HGTV into thinking that all kitchens and baths have to be 100% up-to-date whether or not any of the fixtures are working perfectly well or not. We have plans in our heads, but that's as far as we've gone. Some of this is because we've had such dodgy luck with recommended contractors that it's just gotten daunting to think of carrying on.

We have a 1988 semi-funky kitchen and master bath where all the laminate has come unglued from the cabinets and a 1960 hall bath, where the only renov on it has been a couple of coats of paint and some seriously dated "white brick" lino.

Maybe we'll close our eyes, click our heels, and it'll all miraculously turn into a fabulous 2008 marketable/salable cash cow.

We now want to have most of the 3 year old badly-installed inferior wood deck ripped up and replaced with the plastic low-maintenance planks. Ugh.

This past weekend, we did get a few minor things done (on top of my 5 or so hours piddling around in the yard and garden).

Danny: finished putting together a nice cabinet from Tarjay in the downstairs bathroom and installed a dimmer switch for the somewhat defective old switch. We can check off the downstairs bath as done now.

Me: nailed and caulked the badly installed trim around the east garage door. Nailed down a loose clapboard that's bugged me for years.

Me: finished the installation of the weather center on the northeast roof (wind gauge, rain gauge and hydro/temp gauge, complete with many yards of wire, all bundled up). I'm confused about the software that theoretically posts the logs from the base station, and I haven't started exploring how to make a weather-link on wunderground.com. I still have to finish painting the house trim, unfortunately.

Me: moved a couple of pieces of art/pics around the house. Everything that's worth hanging up is now hung.

There is no end to the list of projects.
