Actually calling SIX dances here, which makes sense. Had missed spotting the 3pm to 5pm A2 dance on today's schedule!

I'm just amazed that some groups can bring in out-of-state callers, but I guess packaging the weekends brings the economics more into play. Last night, there were only two squares for the Plus dance at the Steel Lake Grange hall, a mere 35 minutes from where my host JW lives. It was probably the strongest Plus floor that I've called to in my memory; I think only one dancer was Plus-only, the rest were A2 through C4. Enjoyed very much sharing the program with cuer Lynn P.--she even cues a few Phase 2 rounds so I could dance with one of the ladies there!

The flight here was effortless. I'm SO glad Southwest has a non-stop to Seattle. I did find out that Bradley Bell has the wrong number for CW in the listing; luckily, he was right there at baggage claim when I walked out. I have no idea who I actually called, but "Tim" was probably confused by the message I left on his voicemail.

Caught up with all the local (and national) dirt in the Seattle area with JW. Since these are all straight dances I'm calling, it's unlikely we'll run into many of our team. I had no idea that JW's partner Tom Long has passed away a few years ago from non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Shows how much out of the loop I am!

JW and I took a lovely walk around Green Lake Park yesterday, a welcome exercise of three miles. Although the people strolling are all 21st century (hordes of young mothers with expensive modern strollers, skateboarders, etc), it felt quite Victorian to be taking the air. Since Fall comes here a bit earlier than in ABQ, the trees are quite glorious!

Late in the afternoon, [livejournal.com profile] tdjohnsn called to confirm there was no pre-A2 dance workshop with Puddletown. Would have loved to be able to visit with the boys a bit, something I've never really done.

We did get some rain in the evening, driving back from the Plus dance. It stopped by the time we got back to his apartment. After a few minutes of light chat, I was nodding off in front of the TV so made a beeline to bed for a solid 8 hours of sleep. Yay!

Writing A2 choreo this morning. JW's just up, so maybe I can coerce him into a nice breakfast or lunch this morning. Wonderful sunshine out this morning at 10am!
