Although he isn't aware of it, I have to thank [livejournal.com profile] excessor for the idea for the big Christmas gift Danny REALLY seems to like, a Garmin Nuvi 680. I couldn't be happier at Danny's response.

Today, we drove up to the foothills to test it out. Danny had set it for a British-voiced gentleman named "Daniel." Some quirk in the translator gave us huge hilarity--whenever the directions had "DR" for Drive, 'Daniel' said "Doctor." That kept us in stitches for awhile!

Post-Christmas shopping ensued, with us picking up a lot of deco and cards for 50% off. One of our favorite activities!

That GPS has so many features that Danny was kept busy figuring them out. There are a number of languages that can be used, including British, American and Australian English. On top of that, you got to choose a voice, which Danny had changed to 'British Daniel."

After he changed it back to US English and voiced it to 'American Jack," the GPS recognized "Dr" as 'Drive!'

So much to learn!
