I think I posted last week or so that our house was being cased for a potential breakin by two young guys that came around the back of the house about 9am on a Friday morning. Danny was home, and that seemed to deter them. And of course, it keeps us a bit worried.

It seems that now we have a mail thief.

Two checks that have been sent to me in the past few weeks by two totally unrelated parties have gone astray. I do remember maybe 2 weeks ago, I checked the mail and there was none, not even junk mail. We ALWAYS get junk mail. Daily.

So now, we're talking about either getting a locking mailbox, or having mail delivered to a PO box.

It just never ends.

I'm so sorry to hear about this and know how frustrating this must be.

And scary, considering that there were people casing the joint.

::hugz to both of you::

Sorry about what happened to you, too...you'd think condos would be pretty safe! :(

I hate this violation. Of course, it's not life-threatening, and it's just STUFF, but jeez!

Condo's aren't necessarily safe. It's rather difficult to describe the complex, but there are MANY faults with it as far as security goes (the association likes to give the appearance of security when, to a great degree, it really doesn't exist). To make matters worse, they favor the appearance of security over the normalcy of convenience (there's a locked gate to get into the complex and doors to the units are yards away, yet there is no system of ringer, buzzer, or two-way communication if one is expecting a delivery).

It can become frustrating.

Still... now that someone HAS broken into the condo, especially through a patio that requires scaling six feet, he's already installed two pipes running through the opposite end of the sliding glass door to help keep the frame in place.

Oy!

We had a mail thief when i was job hunting, stealing mail from our post office box. (Which isn't to say getting one is a bad idea.)

I took the absence of job responses to be a sign of the realities of life, but the absence of junk mail! Well, that's a sign of something very wrong!

Good luck with the postal police. Identity theft hadn't reached the level of concern and visibility it now has; in 1998 they seemed mainly interested in determining whether it was an inside job.

Are you checking your credit report using the "one free from each of the three agencies every year" site? I can dig up that URL

I do check mine from time to time...Danny checks his frequently since he's found significant errors in it.

Nothing's safe and nothing's sacred, no matter where you live. Amazingly, my mother's house that she's lived in since 1969 has never been broken into...and it's open season there in Louisiana.
