After a typically heavy meal at our local fave Mannie's, [livejournal.com profile] abqdan and I ventured out for tux shopping. Good thing I ate a lot; it reinforced my premonition of the humbling I knew I'd have when we got to the store.

Yup, I tried on 36 waist slacks...they were almost two inches too small from connecting at the appropriate place in the middle. * gulp! *
Being discouraged, of course I opted to pass on buying a tux until I did something about this.

Scales this morning = 204.5

Off to work now, to sit on my butt for 8 hours! And think about this winter padding I have this summer.

Maybe it's the site www.thefatmanwalking.com that's got me (slightly) motivated to do something.

What a delightful weather day!

Last night and today, a huge cool front passed through the area, giving us a typical Bay area summer day. (but wait! I'm in the high desert of New Mexico!)

Gorgeous massive foggy-clouds were spilling over the Sandia and Manzano Mountains east of the city, with that marshmallow fluffy look you see on the hills and mountains in Northern California....very breezy and MUCH cooler. And humidish. It's 11 in the morning and the temperature has only crawled up to 70...mmmm! I love feeling that cool breeze blowing over me...

Good sleepin' weather, as we usta say back in Louisiana! I was pretty tired of the 95 degrees we had every day for a month.

Pretty much convinced after tonight that I'm just going to do the 4 Wednesdays of C/W lessons at the Ranch and let it go (again).

[livejournal.com profile] abqdan was there as sterling moral support tonight. He helped set up the sound equipment, along with the DJ, to hook into their system there, and was my Ginger for the demos.

Probably about 16 folks there, lots of energy, although the humidity is way up and the swamp coolers aren't doing much toward cooling folks off. Taught fairly intensively the basic c/w two-step, the Tush Push, the reviewed the Waltz and Boot Scootin' Boogie. My boss was even there tonight!

I'd count this as a success if I felt that the Ranch mgmt, who approached me to DO this, was actually supporting it. There were all kinds of flyers scattered over the bar, but this week nothing about the dance lessons. I'm thinking that about 1/2 the folks there were Wilde Bunchers, and the other 8 weren't...I didn't actually get a good count, but seemed like it.

At some time during the night, I mentioned on the mic that we should thank Sidewinders for supporting the dancing, and to come out on Friday-Sunday for practicing and socializing (which is the whole purpose of it). The DJ, who was sitting on the sidelines, watching the goings-on, yelled over to me that it's still "The Ranch" and some comment made afterwards made it sound like the sale isn't really final yet! Could it be???

Tried to get the rodeo group involved in this, too....we'll see if that pans out over the next two weeks! I know that it takes more that one or two weeks to get a program going, but again..."we'll see!"
