New Mexico 2008 is the new Florida 2000
Feb. 15th, 2008 09:05 amBrian Colon (needs an accent on the last 'o') released the "caucus" results to the world this morning. The delegate votes went to Hillary. The Democrat "caucus" was Feb 5, moved up from June at the "suggestion" of our own then running-for-prez governor, Bill Richardson.
The state-wide embarrassing FUBAR was that the voting process was a shambles in the Albuquerque metro. Way too few polling places to go, and since the turnout was severely underestimated, voting sheets ran out long before voters stopped coming. Some places had 4 hour long waits in line. Thousands of people left in disgust. 17,000 provisional votes took a week to tabulate and confirm.
It's a shame that Brian has been so pulverized by the media and the populace over this, he's really a decent guy. He's been the prez of our theatre "leadership team" for several years...quite dynamic AND productive. He always has a handshake and a warm smile for me in the office. I'm sure he is (or was) planning to eventually run for governor here.
I'm about 10% as politically active as Danny is, but this is one of the rare cases I know personally a key player in the game. I also know Diane Denish, our Lt Governor, but that harkens back to the days when she ran a telemarketing company and the theatre company I worked for then used them.
