Such a tease, those forecasters!
Feb. 16th, 2008 09:13 amThat storm I mentioned Wednesday halted and didn't come through Thursday at all, nor most of Friday. It stayed in the 50s, but the breezes made it feel cooler.
Finally, late in the day Friday, we got WIND. 50mph+ gusts through the canyon, but that just kept it warmish in town. Something on the swamp cooler kept banging away, but I have no idea what it was.
Danny stoked a delightful fire in the upstairs fireplace and we watched some TV, feeling all cozy. He went to bed about 10 and I followed at 10:30, only to wake up at 1am wide awake.
Crawling downstairs to watch HD, the wind was still whipping away. About 2 or so, we got our first wet flurries. Those continued on and off all night, but like the forecasters said (last night), we'd only end up with less than an inch.
This morning, waking very groggy at 8 again, it's totally gray outside with snow on the grass, but just wet everywhere else.
Oh, well. At least it's a LITTLE precip to keep us going. Supposed to be sunny and warm this afternoon (54).
I'll call my mom to check on her. This front is supposed to hit the warm air of the gulf and blow up into heavy thunderstorms and possible tornadoes in the Shreveport area.
