Tornadoes are REALLY rare in this part of the state.  This one is about 35 miles north of Albuquerque near I-25 as it goes up what's called "La Bajada ," a steep incline from 5,500 feet to 7,000 feet, up from Albuquerque level to the Santa Fe area cooler climate.

This didn't do any damage, but traffic was halted on the freeway for an hour until this and two other reported tornadoes would have dissipated.

That's right...you probably know we desert folk go outside to watch when it starts raining, especially if there's thunder and lightning!
